About this role
Leading a NICU nursing team at Ascension's Indianapolis location requires someone with solid clinical credentials and proven ability to manage both patient care and people. You'll oversee daily operations in a specialty unit, ensuring appropriate care delivery while delegating tasks to clinical staff based on their capabilities. This means balancing direct nursing responsibilities with the administrative side—hiring, training, evaluating staff, and working with department leadership to maintain current processes and drive quality improvements.
To succeed, you'll need an active RN license, BLS certification within your first month, and at least one year of NICU-specific experience. Charge nurse experience is essential, and prior leadership exposure is preferred. Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation certifications strengthen your candidacy. This role suits an experienced NICU nurse ready to step into management, comfortable with both clinical oversight and staff development in a Catholic health system environment.
