About this role

Working as a mechanical intern at CannonDesign means joining a multidisciplinary engineering team on real projects across education, healthcare, commercial, and science sectors. You'll work under a licensed engineer's supervision, gaining hands-on experience in HVAC system design—from ductwork and piping layouts to equipment selection and controls. A significant part of the role involves BIM modeling in Revit MEP, where you'll develop construction drawings through multiple project phases, review shop drawing submittals, and contribute process improvements alongside your supervisory team.

The position requires you to be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with strong communication skills. Prior experience with Revit MEP or similar design software is preferred. You should expect occasional site visits that involve physical walkthroughs to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, so comfort with active job site work is part of the role.

CannonDesign emphasizes open communication, equity, and meaningful work grounded in their "Living-Centered Design" philosophy. This internship suits someone ready to apply classroom learning to client-facing projects while developing both technical and collaborative skills in a firm that values transparency and community impact.
