Description
Apera is an innovative, Vancouver-based company at the forefront of robotics, AI, and machine vision — recognized with the 2025 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Leadership Award and the 2024 BC Tech "Company of the Year, Growth" award. We're on a mission to redefine AI-driven robotic vision.
Apera AI helps manufacturers make their factories more flexible and productive. Robots enhanced with Apera's software have 4D Vision — the ability to see and grasp objects with human-like capability. Challenging applications such as bin picking, sorting, packaging, and assembly are now open to fast, precise, and reliable automation. We work with the world's leading automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
Our portfolio spans Vue (our 4D Vision software), Forge (a no-code simulation and AI training studio where customers build, validate, and de-risk robotic cells before any hardware is bought), and VuePod, our new turnkey, productized bin-picking cell.

About this role
Apera AI is hiring Sales Application Engineers to bridge their cutting-edge robotics and machine vision technology with customer needs in industrial automation. You'd be the technical backbone of the sales team, delivering demos and proof-of-concept solutions to manufacturers, translating their automation challenges into tailored proposals, and guiding them through decisions on systems like Vue (4D Vision software), Forge (simulation and AI training), and VuePod (turnkey bin-picking cells). The role sits at the intersection of technical depth and commercial impact—shorter sales cycles and higher win rates depend on your ability to communicate complex robotics concepts clearly to everyone from developers to C-suite executives.
This position suits someone with 3–5+ years in application engineering, solutions engineering, or technical pre-sales, ideally with hands-on experience in robotics, machine vision, or factory automation. You'll need a proven track record closing deals through POCs and technical proposals, plus the ability to build reusable tools and content that scale across the team. Beyond the immediate sales function, Apera frames this as a platform to develop into product, solution architecture, or technical leadership roles.
The Detroit, Michigan office is in-person. Compensation ranges from $90,000–$110,000 base salary, with an on-target earnings (OTE) of $99,000–$121,000. The package includes stock options as part of Apera's employee-ownership model, a learning budget, and personalized development plans.
