About this role

Astranis is hiring an RF Hardware Intern for summer 2027 to work on satellite communications systems that are already in orbit and supporting major government and enterprise customers. You'd spend twelve weeks designing, simulating, and testing RF subsystems—amplifiers, filters, converters, oscillators—at microwave frequencies, then integrating them into spacecraft alongside the engineering team. This is hands-on work with real hardware heading to space, not theoretical exercises.

The role expects you to be currently enrolled in an electrical engineering or physics degree program with solid foundational knowledge of RF concepts and practical experience building and measuring RF circuits. You'll need to be comfortable with simulation tools like ADS or HFSS and measurement equipment like network analyzers. If you have PCB design skills, SDR experience, or Python automation background, that's a bonus—but the posting explicitly welcomes applicants who don't check every box. The position pays $29 per hour and requires U.S. citizenship or permanent residency due to export regulations on space technology.

Astranis has a track record of converting strong interns into full-time engineers, so this is a genuine opportunity to contribute to a working satellite program and potentially launch your career there. You'll be working in their San Francisco headquarters alongside 500 engineers at a company backed by major investors and managing over $1 billion in commercial contracts.
