About this role

Leading Astranis's avionics team means owning the compute, networking, and power systems that keep satellites operating in orbit. You'll manage a growing group of electrical engineers while driving the full lifecycle of hardware development—from architecture and component selection through circuit board design, implementation, verification, and on-orbit support. This role sits at the intersection of technical depth and team leadership, requiring you to both solve complex analog and mixed-signal design challenges hands-on and guide engineers through a fast-paced production environment.

The position demands at least five years of board-level hardware design experience and a proven track record building and managing engineering teams. You'll collaborate across disciplines to define spacecraft requirements, oversee third-party suppliers, and support both production and mission operations. Bonus skills in signal conditioning, FPGAs, embedded systems, radiation effects, or environmental testing strengthen your candidacy, though the core expectation is solid circuit design fundamentals and the ability to communicate clearly across functions.

Astranis offers a base salary of $160,000 to $210,000 plus equity, comprehensive healthcare, 401(k) matching, flexible PTO, and on-site meals. U.S. citizenship or green card status is required due to export control regulations. The role is full-time and in-office in San Francisco.
