About this role
Astranis is hiring an Automation & Controls Engineering Associate to design and build the test infrastructure that validates satellite hardware before it reaches orbit. You'll work hands-on with electrical control systems, environmental chambers, sensors, and automation software—bridging hardware and software to create safe, repeatable testing environments for spacecraft. This role sits at the intersection of multiple engineering disciplines, so you'll collaborate closely with teams across environmental testing, mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing to move projects from concept through commissioning and ongoing support.
The ideal candidate holds a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field and has practical experience with circuits, instrumentation, embedded systems, PLCs, or control systems—whether through coursework, internships, projects, or personal work. You'll need solid Python skills, the ability to communicate clearly in writing, and comfort working in a lab or factory setting doing hands-on hardware tasks. U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required due to export regulations on space technology. The position is full-time, in-office in San Francisco, with a base salary of $1,925 per week.
