About this role

Lightmatter is seeking a senior product leader to own the commercial strategy and lifecycle management of its Passage photonics interconnect platform—a breakthrough technology designed to connect thousands to millions of processors at light speed for next-generation AI and HPC data centers. You'll report directly to the Director of Product Management and drive product definition, SKU strategy, and go-to-market positioning while partnering with engineering, sales, operations, and executive leadership to secure design wins with top semiconductor and cloud vendors.

This role demands deep expertise in silicon photonics and optical technologies, combined with 10+ years of semiconductor industry experience—at least 6 of those in product management, marketing, applications engineering, or business development. You'll need a proven track record taking complex hardware products from concept through volume production, comprehensive knowledge of datacenter optical components and semiconductor manufacturing, and the ability to translate technical complexity into compelling customer value propositions and financial models. An advanced degree in electrical engineering or photonics is expected; a PhD in optics or photonics is preferred.

Success here requires balancing technical rigor with business acumen: you'll establish pricing and margin models, manage product rollouts with lead customers, create high-impact sales collateral, and collaborate across disciplines to accelerate adoption. The role is based in Boston and requires in-office presence. Compensation ranges from $214,000 to $286,000 base salary, plus equity grants and a full benefits package including health coverage, retirement matching, and paid family leave.
