About this role

Leading Pinterest's ads measurement and signal-quality ecosystem, this director role sits at the intersection of machine learning, data infrastructure, and advertiser-facing products. You'd own technical strategy across four major areas—Interfaces, Ingestion, User Match, and Conversion Quality—and manage a team of managers and senior technical leaders through multi-year investments in ML platforms, experimentation, privacy, and reliability. The scope is genuinely broad: translating advertiser problems into scalable solutions while partnering across Product, Data Science, Ads Quality, Infrastructure, Privacy, Legal, and Sales.

This is a role for someone with deep ads-measurement expertise and a track record leading engineering organizations through complexity. You need strong foundational knowledge in identity, signals, and large-scale data processing, plus demonstrated ability to define and execute technical strategy across distributed teams. The work demands exceptional analytical thinking—moving from ambiguous business challenges to measurable technical outcomes—and the executive communication skills to navigate trade-offs and risks with senior stakeholders.

The nice-to-haves point to the real challenges ahead: experience navigating privacy and platform shifts, probabilistic matching, real-time systems, large-scale experimentation, and model governance. If you've built or scaled systems that balance measurement rigor with privacy constraints, or led teams through major signal-availability changes, this role plays to those strengths. The position requires in-office presence in San Francisco and is not eligible for relocation assistance.
