About this role

At iCapital, you'd own the full lifecycle of backend services powering their investment platform—from initial design through production support. The role involves building and maintaining cloud-based APIs and services using a tech stack centered on Scala, Ruby, and Python, though the team values strong fundamentals over language-specific expertise. You'll translate business requirements into technical solutions, collaborate across engineering and product teams, and contribute to architectural decisions while maintaining high standards for testing, security, and operational readiness.

The position requires at least six years working with modern programming languages and four years building or integrating backend services and APIs. You should be comfortable with relational and NoSQL databases, automated testing, version control, and distributed systems concepts. The role also expects familiarity with AI-assisted development tools—not as a replacement for engineering judgment, but as a practical aid for planning, specification refinement, and quality validation.

This is an in-office role in Salt Lake City with Monday-Thursday office presence and Friday remote flexibility. The salary range is $100,000 to $130,000, with equity, performance bonuses, matched retirement contributions, and comprehensive benefits including fully employer-paid dental and vision coverage, telemedicine, and unlimited PTO.
