We are actively seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Product Engineering Core DevOps team. At Five9, we work in small teams and move fast to drive our products and business to the next level. We look for crucial skills in team members such as a problem-solving mindset and intellectual curiosity, along with comfortable integration into a deeply collaborative system that rewards impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implementation, and automation of large-scale distributed systems
- Build tools and automation that help Five9 achieve higher availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency
- Work with Engineering teams to deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced environment
- Monitor production and development environments to build preventive measures and provide a seamless customer experience
- Work with delivery teams on software improvements to achieve higher availability and lower MTTD
- Participate in on-call rotation (8h shift, 7days a week, every 3-4 weeks)
Key Requirements:
- 7+ years of public cloud experience (GCP or AWS)
- 7+ years of private cloud experience (Openstack, VMware ESXi)
- 7+ years of Linux experience (Centos/Ubuntu)
- 7+ years of networking experience
- Orchestration and management of containers using Kubernetes, Helm, GKE and Docker
- Experience with Gitlab, ArgoCD, CI/CD methodologies & tools
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Python or other scripting languages
- Experience with Ansible config management tool
- Experience with Prometheus/Loki/Alertmanager/Grafana observability tools
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Experience with Incident Management Process, SRE best practices and continuous improvements
- Experience designing large scale distributed systems
- Familiar with DevOps/DevSecOps methodologies and best practices
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
This role is hybrid and requires 3 days a week in office.

About this role
Five9's Product Engineering Core DevOps team is looking for someone with deep expertise across public and private cloud platforms, Kubernetes orchestration, and infrastructure automation to design and maintain large-scale distributed systems that power their cloud contact center software. You'd be responsible for building the tooling and automation that keeps their systems highly available and performant, working closely with engineering teams to ship quality software quickly while managing production environments proactively. The role includes on-call responsibilities on an 8-hour rotation roughly every 3 to 4 weeks.
This position requires 7+ years of hands-on experience in each of several areas: public cloud (GCP or AWS), private cloud (Openstack or VMware ESXi), Linux administration, and networking. You'll need strong proficiency with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and GKE; CI/CD tools like GitLab and ArgoCD; infrastructure-as-code with Terraform; configuration management with Ansible; and observability platforms like Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki. Scripting ability in Python or similar languages is expected, along with a solid grasp of SRE practices, incident management, and DevSecOps methodologies. A Computer Science degree or equivalent experience is required.
Based in Bengaluru, this is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in office. It suits someone with a problem-solving mindset who thrives in fast-moving, collaborative teams and is comfortable taking ownership of critical infrastructure at scale.
