This is a short-term Freelance contract until the end of the year, 4 days per week.

The Role
As a Strategist, you will:
- Work closely with our Head of Strategy to perform an integral role in our AUNZ strategy team.
- You will have skills and experience in some (or all) of the following areas:
- Marketing and campaign strategy
- Creative brief development and supporting creative ideation
- Brand strategy and development
- Retail marketing or category experience
- Qualitative and quantitative insights
- Content and messaging strategy
- Digital and channel strategy
- Customer experience strategy
- Presentation and workshop facilitation
- Source, gather, and analyse customer information that unlocks actionable insights on cultural shifts and decision-making trends.
- Link client objectives and customer needs across industries, products and audiences to overcome indifference and drive effectiveness.

About this role
The Brand Agency, part of the Ogilvy and WPP network, is seeking an experienced Strategist for a short-term contract role through the end of the year. You'd be based in Melbourne on a hybrid arrangement, working from their new Flinders Lane office or remotely, and reporting to the Head of Strategy. This is a hands-on position supporting major Australian brands across the AUNZ region.
The role centres on uncovering insights and developing strategy across multiple disciplines—marketing and campaign planning, brand development, retail or category expertise, customer experience, and digital channels. You'll source and analyse customer data to identify cultural shifts and decision-making trends, then connect client objectives with audience needs to drive campaign effectiveness. The work spans qualitative and quantitative research, creative brief development, messaging strategy, and workshop facilitation. This suits someone who thinks strategically, solves problems methodically, and stays curious about industry developments.
You'll need proven experience in strategy work, ideally across several of the areas mentioned. You must have the right to live and work in Australia; visa sponsorship is not available. This is a contract position, so it suits someone available for a defined short-term engagement rather than a permanent role.
