We are looking for someone who has experience in or wants to break into the tech sales world and learn the ins and outs of account management within the channel space.
In this role, you will consult with and support current Channel Partners through phone and email communications. You will also work with Channel Partners that are brand new to Gusto. Your responsibilities will include educating Partners about Gusto Pro (our platform for Accountants & Bookkeepers), matching our people platform offerings to the specific needs of their clients, and providing advisory sales guidance. Additionally, you will assist them in navigating the onboarding process, showcasing your expertise in customer success.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Manage a high volume and velocity of emails and calls, mainly outbound, with Channel Partners and their Clients’ Customers at various stages of the customer journey including discovery, qualification, sales, decision/commitment, and onboarding. Approximately 75% of your talk time will be focused on sales-related activities and you will be required to make at least 70 calls per day
- Maintain a clean and consistent record of notes in Salesforce for all Leads & Accounts you work on
- Leverage phone and email cadences, develop effective talk tracks, and employ other strategies to be a trusted advisor to Channel Partners and their Clients, assisting them in selecting Gusto as their preferred payroll and benefits platform for clients
- Educate Channel Partners about our partnership program, certification process, and guide them to manage their Clients with GustoPro
- Lead frequent discussions with partners to ensure they are leveraging the GustoPro platform to achieve successful business outcomes for their clients and their firm.
- Drive awareness and usage of new or updated GustoPro features and integrations to partners,, showcasing how these advancements can benefit their clients
- Provide support to Clients through their implementation and account setup. This will comprise approximately 25% of your daily conversations
- Exhibit Customer empathy and demonstrate a strong understanding of our product offerings to effectively address Customer needs and concerns
- Exercise and refine your skills in advisory selling, presenting solutions to Channel Partners and their Small Business Clients
- Participate in community and career development opportunities at Gusto, as we value growth and continuous learning within our organization
Here’s what we're looking for:
- 2+ years experience in a sales role. Experience managing existing customer accounts is a plus.
- An ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in Inside or Outside Sales, Insurance Sales, Retention, and/or Customer Success
- Previous experience with making high volume outbound dials and/or prospecting leads
- Previous Salesforce experience
- Track record of consistently meeting or exceeding targets and a desire to enhance your craft
Our cash compensation range for this role is $25.24 to $30.29 hourly in Denver & Atlanta. $24.14 to $28.37 hourly for Phoenix. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Please note: This is a non-commissionable role.
At Gusto, we don't use titles the traditional way, as a signal of rank or hierarchy. Instead, our titles describe two things at once — your craft (what you do, e.g. Engineering, Design) and your scope of ownership (what you're accountable for) — which is why you'll see something like "Head of X" instead of a rank word like "Director" that tells you neither. Because of this, the title on this posting may look different from what you'd expect based on the scope and seniority of the role, and from how similar roles are typically titled elsewhere. If you have questions about how this role compares to your current title or level, your recruiter can help translate.
Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.
Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required. This includes non-office days for hybrid employees.
Reliable, consistent presence: We expect regular and predictable attendance, whether you're working in-office, hybrid, or fully remote, so that you stay closely connected to your team, customers, and stakeholders in real time and ensure colleagues and customers receive the timely support and responsiveness they deserve.
Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it makes our company stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for small businesses, you will find a home at Gusto.

Gusto considers qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state and local law. Gusto is also committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in our job application procedures. About this role
Gusto is looking for a Junior Account Manager to support its channel partner ecosystem—accounting firms and bookkeepers who recommend Gusto's payroll and benefits platform to their small business clients. You'd spend most of your time on the phone and email, making roughly 70 outbound calls daily to educate partners about Gusto Pro, qualify opportunities, guide them through onboarding, and help their clients succeed with the platform. The role blends sales activity (about 75% of your time) with customer success support, requiring you to be both a trusted advisor and a problem-solver who understands how Gusto's offerings fit different business needs.
This role suits someone with at least two years of sales experience—whether in inside sales, outside sales, insurance, retention, or customer success—who's comfortable with high-volume prospecting and has used Salesforce. You'll need to maintain disciplined records, develop effective talk tracks, and consistently hit targets. The position is based in Missouri as hybrid, though Gusto has offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York where hybrid employees work on-site 2–3 days per week. Compensation ranges from $24.14 to $30.29 per hour depending on location and experience, with benefits including equity, health insurance, and 401(k)s. This is a non-commissioned role, so your earnings are stable base pay.
