Description

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP is seeking an associate with 3-5 years of litigation experience to join our nationally recognized Health Care practice.

Our matters include consumer class actions, commercial disputes, litigation involving government agencies, government and internal investigations, constitutional law, civil rights, fraud and abuse claims, qui tam actions, and other complex business and health care disputes.

At Manatt, collaboration is a core value. Our Health Care team is known for its collegial, team-oriented culture, and we are committed to mentoring and investing in the long-term success of our attorneys.

About this role

Manatt's Health Care Litigation team in Los Angeles is looking for an associate with 3–5 years of litigation experience to work on high-stakes matters for hospital systems, nursing facilities, and other health care providers. The practice has published more health care decisions in California over the past decade than any other firm, giving you exposure to precedent-setting cases across consumer class actions, government investigations, fraud and abuse claims, qui tam actions, and complex commercial disputes. You'll work at every stage of litigation—from discovery and depositions through trial and appellate proceedings—before courts, arbitrators, and government agencies.

The role demands strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with demonstrated competence in discovery, motion practice, and brief writing. You'll need active California Bar membership and ideally some familiarity with health care law or the industry, though the core requirement is substantive litigation experience. The firm emphasizes collaboration and mentorship, positioning this as a place to build long-term expertise rather than simply log hours.

The position is based in Los Angeles and requires in-office work. Compensation ranges from $260,000 to $365,000, with variation based on your background and qualifications.
