About this role
Working as a mechanical intern at Cannondesign means joining a multidisciplinary design firm on projects spanning education, healthcare, commercial, and science facilities. You'll work remotely from the Buffalo office under a licensed engineer's supervision, gaining hands-on experience in HVAC system design and BIM modeling. Your responsibilities will include designing ductwork, piping, and controls; creating and revising Revit construction drawings from early design through completion; reviewing shop drawing submittals; and occasionally visiting job sites to assess existing conditions and track construction progress.
This role suits students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering who have strong communication skills and ideally some experience with Revit MEP or similar design software. You'll contribute ideas for process improvements while learning how mechanical systems integrate into larger building projects. The position pays $22.25 to $26.25 hourly and offers a full benefits package including health coverage, paid time off, flexible scheduling, and a 401k plan. For students meeting the required qualifications, there's potential to transition into a full-time entry-level position after the internship.
