About this role
Belmont Charter Network is building a pipeline of educators for K-8th grade classrooms across its five Philadelphia schools, and this listing invites applications for future openings rather than an immediate vacancy. The network operates with a whole-child approach, pairing classroom instruction with community services like social work support and out-of-school programming, all grounded in trauma-informed practice and a commitment to addressing systemic inequity.
As a Lead Teacher, you would plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction, create an engaging classroom environment, assess student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum. The role includes typical classroom management, record-keeping, parent communication, and school-wide duties like lunch and hallway supervision. You'd work within a 10-month calendar under school leadership supervision and be expected to participate in professional development, department meetings, and extracurricular activities.
The position requires a bachelor's degree, a valid Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate, 1–2 years of classroom experience (ideally in urban settings), and the ability to pass multiple background clearances. Success here depends on genuine skill working with students across diverse economic, cultural, and ability backgrounds; strong communication with families and colleagues; and a commitment to continuous growth as an educator. If you're drawn to mission-driven work in a network that prioritizes both academic and social-emotional development, this is worth monitoring.
