About this role
Belmont Charter Network is building a talent pipeline for secondary math and science teachers across its five Philadelphia schools, and this posting invites applications for future openings rather than an immediate vacancy. You'd be joining a mission-driven organization focused on disrupting systemic racism through education, with a trauma-informed approach that extends support beyond the classroom through social work, out-of-school programming, and community partnerships.
The role centers on creating engaging, standards-aligned instruction for diverse learners while contributing to a joyful school environment. You'll develop lesson plans, assess student progress, manage classroom dynamics, and collaborate with colleagues to refine curriculum—all while handling the full range of teaching duties from lunch supervision to parent communication. This is a 10-month position reporting to school leadership.
The network seeks teachers with a Pennsylvania instructional certificate, a bachelor's degree, and ideally one to two years of classroom experience in an urban setting. Beyond credentials, they're looking for people who communicate effectively across differences, solve problems creatively, and genuinely commit to their own growth and to serving students with varied cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
