About this role
Morrison-Maierle, a 100% employee-owned engineering firm with deep roots in the region since 1945, is looking for a structural engineering intern to support hydraulic infrastructure projects in their Boise office. You'd work on real design and construction activities involving water retention systems, fish passage, hydropower, and other water infrastructure—moving beyond classroom theory into hands-on experience with experienced professionals who prioritize mentorship. The role combines office-based design work with field inspections and site observation, giving you exposure to how structural concepts actually get built and managed.
The internship suits someone currently pursuing a civil engineering degree (ideally with structural emphasis) who is genuinely interested in learning how infrastructure integrates with the natural environment. You'll develop practical skills in planning, modeling, and design while learning construction methods, safety standards, regulatory compliance, and how engineering teams collaborate with contractors. Beyond technical growth, you'll strengthen communication skills and gain clarity on whether this career path aligns with your goals.
The position pays $21–$24 per hour depending on experience and requires only basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and a valid driving record. Morrison-Maierle's recognition as a top workplace and commitment to employee ownership suggests a stable environment where your contributions as an intern are genuinely valued.
