About this role
Cannondesign's Dallas office is looking for an electrical engineering student to join a multidisciplinary design team working on projects across commercial, education, health, science and technology, and sports facilities. You'd work under a licensed engineer on the full scope of electrical systems—lighting, power distribution, communications, and fire alarm design—moving from concept through detailed technical documentation. The role includes reviewing shop drawing submittals and site visits to assess existing conditions and monitor construction progress, which means you should be prepared for physical walkthroughs.
To be a strong candidate, you need to be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Engineering with solid communication skills. Experience with design software like Revit MEP or SKM Power Tools is preferred but not required. This internship has real potential to convert to a full-time entry-level position if you perform well and meet the firm's qualifications.
CannonDesign emphasizes a collaborative culture centered on client service and Living-Centered Design principles. The firm is transparent about its commitment to equity and diversity, with active employee resource groups and community initiatives. You'd be expected to complete compliance training and follow the firm's Code of Conduct as a condition of employment.
