About this role

At Phoenix Contact's Houston office, this role combines technical depth with hands-on customer engagement around EtherWAN networking products. You'd serve as the go-to expert for prospects and internal teams, translating complex networking concepts into business value. Your days would span pre-sales activities like conducting product demonstrations and network audits, designing solutions tailored to customer environments, and delivering training ranging from introductory to advanced levels. You'd also manage field engagements, troubleshoot customer issues, and feed market insights back to the organization—all while maintaining the CRM as your central hub for tracking interactions and technical cases.

This position demands strong networking fundamentals: you'll need solid knowledge of OSI models, switching protocols, TCP/IP, and routing, ideally backed by CCNA certification or equivalent experience. Beyond the technical credentials, you need three-plus years in customer-facing or technical sales roles, with the ability to explain intricate topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Comfort with tools like Visio, Office, and CRM systems is essential. Vertical market expertise in transportation, security, energy, or industrial automation is valued but not required.

The role involves significant travel—65 percent, including overnight trips and up to six-hour drives or flights—so you'll need flexibility and stamina for field work. Phoenix Contact offers competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k matching, generous parental leave, and an auto allowance. This is a full-time, in-office position in Houston suited to someone who thrives bridging sales and engineering, enjoys direct customer interaction, and wants to build expertise in industrial networking technologies.
