About this role
Leading banquets and events at one of Sydney's most prestigious waterfront venues, this role puts you at the centre of the action during conferences, weddings and corporate celebrations at Pier One. You'll supervise the full lifecycle of each event—from reviewing requirements and briefing your team through to service delivery and pack-down—staying visible on the floor to support associates, anticipate guest needs and handle the inevitable operational challenges that arise during busy service periods.
This is a hands-on supervisory position that demands strong leadership presence, excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities under pressure. You'll need previous banquets or food and beverage operations experience, ideally with supervisory background, plus a current NSW RSA certification. The role requires you to understand service standards, manage inventory and costs, coordinate across kitchen and event planning teams, and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and compliance. Your genuine passion for hospitality will be tested regularly—this isn't a desk-based role.
The position suits someone who thrives on variety and the energy of live events, enjoys motivating a diverse team, and finds satisfaction in delivering seamless experiences for guests. Expect flexible availability across evenings, weekends and public holidays. In return, you'll access Marriott's training and development programs, complimentary meals and uniform care, and hotel discounts.
