Located in West Tennessee on the banks of the Mississippi River, Memphis is the second-largest city in the state and among the largest cities in the Southeast. The Greater Memphis metropolitan area has more than 1.3 million residents, and the city ranks among those with the lowest cost of living in the country. It is home to a vibrant restaurant scene, a revitalized Downtown, the Midtown Arts District, many scenic neighborhoods, an active medical district, and a burgeoning airport in the midst of a $214 million modernization.
Memphis boasts attractions, including Elvis Presley’s Graceland, the Memphis Grizzlies, historic Beale Street, the National Civil Rights Museum, the second-largest urban county park in the United States, and the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest.
About this role
The University of Tennessee Health Sciences is recruiting a neurologist at open rank to join its Memphis-based program, with a primary focus on clinical care of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. The role combines direct patient care with resident supervision, including continuity clinic oversight, and teaching responsibilities in cognitive neurology for both residents and medical students. Depending on your interests and background, there is also opportunity for research collaboration within the department.
You'll need an MD or DO with completed neurology residency training and board certification or board eligibility in neurology. This is a full-time, in-person position within one of Tennessee's largest academic health systems, which operates residency and fellowship programs across multiple regional locations and clinical sites throughout the state.
Memphis offers a lower cost of living than many comparable cities, a growing medical district, and cultural amenities ranging from the arts to historic attractions. If you're interested in academic neurology with a clinical emphasis on dementia care and resident education, this opening provides that focus within an established public health sciences institution.
