About this role

University of Tennessee at Martin's dental clinic in Memphis is hiring two clinical dental assistants to support dental students and faculty in a busy operatory setting. You'll work chairside during procedures, managing instrument trays, taking and processing radiographs, and ensuring all equipment meets OSHA sterilization standards. The role also includes patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, nitrous oxide monitoring, and emergency kit management—a mix of clinical and administrative responsibilities.

To qualify, you'll need a Tennessee RDA license with current radiology and nitrous oxide monitoring certifications, plus at least one year of prior dental office or laboratory experience. A high school diploma or GED is the baseline education requirement, though CODA accreditation and DANB certification are preferred. The position demands solid computer skills (particularly with electronic health records), strong communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a clinical environment. Occasional weekend work is part of the schedule.

This is a full-time, in-office role suited to someone with established dental assisting credentials who's comfortable supporting an educational dental program and managing both clinical and operational tasks.
