About this role
This is a limited-term appointment (July 2026–March 2027) in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science at UT Health Science Center in Memphis, structured primarily around research and scholarship in fungal pathogenesis. The role allocates 80% effort to developing and maintaining a nationally recognized research program, including securing external federal funding and publishing peer-reviewed work. The remaining time splits between teaching didactic courses (10%) and departmental and institutional service (10%), with specific teaching assignments to be determined by the department chair.
The position targets researchers with a doctoral degree (Pharm.D., Ph.D., or equivalent) and a demonstrated track record of acquiring sustained extramural funding, peer-reviewed publications, and scholarly accomplishment. Candidates with existing federally funded research programs in molecular mechanisms of fungal pathogenesis, novel antifungal drug design, or antifungal drug resistance are prioritized. Strong oral and written communication skills and a commitment to teaching excellence are essential.
This role suits an established researcher seeking to expand or transition an existing research program within an academic health sciences environment. The heavy weighting toward scholarship and the emphasis on federal funding suggest this is designed for someone already active in research rather than someone early in their career. The limited term may appeal to candidates exploring a new institution or seeking a defined project period before a longer commitment.
