Part of the University of Tennessee System, the Health Science Center is headquartered in Memphis and includes all six of UT’s doctoral-degree-granting health science colleges -- Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Graduate Health Sciences, and Health Professions. UTHSC spans the state with its four major, regional clinical health science locations in Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Nashville, as well as more than 100 clinical education sites across Tennessee. UTHSC is the largest educator of health care professionals in the state and operates the state’s largest residency and fellowship advanced training programs.

About this role

This position combines clinical leadership with academic responsibility in plastic surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center's Memphis campus. You would divide your time between patient care—managing both inpatient and outpatient cases at the university hospital—and building an aesthetic surgery practice while contributing to the institution's teaching mission. A significant part of the role involves educating medical residents, fellows, and students, so comfort in a mentoring environment is essential.

The role requires an MD or equivalent with board eligibility or certification in plastic surgery. While an aesthetic surgery fellowship is preferred, it is not mandatory. Beyond clinical credentials, the position demands strong teaching ability, skill in managing concurrent projects, and excellent communication—both written and verbal. You should be detail-oriented, capable of networking effectively, and genuinely committed to clinical excellence and resident education alongside your own practice development.

UTHSC is Tennessee's flagship academic health system, employing over 4,600 people and training more than 3,200 health science students across the state. The Memphis location offers access to a major metropolitan area with a growing medical district, reasonable cost of living, and established cultural amenities, all within a statewide network of clinical and educational resources.
