About this role

University of Tennessee at Martin seeks an experienced advisor to guide students through the healthcare professions pipeline, from initial career exploration through graduate school matriculation. You would work directly with students on academic planning, professional school applications, and interview preparation while also orchestrating the broader ecosystem of opportunities—shadowing placements, mentorship programs, and partnerships with healthcare organizations and alumni. This role combines one-on-one student advocacy with program development and management.

The position requires at least six years in academic advising, student affairs, or higher education administration (or four years with a master's degree), along with demonstrated knowledge of health professions pathways and admissions processes. You'll need strong coaching and mentoring skills, the ability to design and deliver workshops and programs, and comfort managing data and student information systems. Success here depends on building genuine collaborative relationships across campus and with external healthcare partners while juggling competing priorities and occasional evening, weekend, or travel commitments.

This is an in-office role based in Memphis, Tennessee, well suited to someone who thrives in direct student engagement and enjoys the operational side of program management—recruiting and training peer mentors, maintaining records, and representing the program at events alongside the more intimate work of helping individual students navigate complex professional pathways.
