About this role

UL Solutions is seeking a Technical Sales Specialist to drive revenue for its HOMER Pro, Grid, and Front software suite—tools used by engineering firms, utilities, developers, and other players in the energy sector to design and optimize battery energy storage systems and microgrids. You'll own the full B2B sales cycle, from prospecting and technical demonstrations through proposal development and deal closure, while maintaining a healthy pipeline and hitting quarterly targets. The role blends hands-on selling with thought leadership: you'll represent the company at industry conferences and webinars, contribute to marketing strategy, and feed customer insights back to the product team to shape the software's direction.

This position suits someone with strong technical grounding in BESS, microgrids, or distributed energy resources—ideally backed by engineering or renewable energy credentials—combined with proven B2B software sales success. You'll need to translate complex energy market fundamentals and techno-economic design concepts for audiences ranging from technical specialists to non-technical decision-makers, and you should be comfortable generating leads through outreach and networking. At least five years of B2B software sales experience is expected, along with demonstrated ability to close complex deals and manage pipelines strategically.

Based in Toronto and working in-office full-time, the role offers a salary range of $85,000 to $113,000 CAD plus an annual bonus targeting 55% of base salary, standard Canadian benefits including health coverage, wellness programs, and 15 days of vacation plus statutory holidays and sick time.
