About this role

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center seeks an Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology professor to lead teaching, clinical, and scholarly work across its predoctoral dental and hygiene programs, residency training, and interdisciplinary diagnostic sciences curriculum. You would deliver didactic and laboratory instruction, supervise clinical and biopsy services, consult on complex oral lesions and maxillofacial diseases, and mentor students and residents in both clinical practice and research. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Memphis that balances classroom innovation with hands-on patient care and diagnostic expertise.

The role requires a DDS or DMD from a CODA-accredited program, a certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Tennessee licensure eligibility, and board certification or eligibility through the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Prior academic teaching experience and biopsy service expertise are preferred, as are strong diagnostic skills, mentoring experience, and familiarity with digital pathology systems and contemporary educational technologies.

Beyond the classroom and clinic, you would contribute to departmental and institutional service, participate in accreditation and quality improvement efforts, and support regional outreach that advances oral health education and patient care across Tennessee. UT Health Science Center is a major statewide academic health system headquartered in Memphis with four regional clinical locations and over 100 education sites, making this a position with meaningful scope for both specialized practice and broader community impact.
