About this role
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center seeks a nursing instructor or assistant professor to teach undergraduate students in both classroom and clinical settings within its Community and Population Health Department. You would deliver didactic coursework and provide direct clinical supervision, with opportunities to teach health assessment, medical-surgical nursing, and critical care—areas where recent acute care experience is particularly valued. The role is based in Memphis and includes both in-person and online instruction.
Beyond teaching, you'll collaborate with the Department Chair to shape your research, scholarship, and service contributions according to your interests and strengths. A Master's Degree in Nursing and a current RN license are required; prior teaching experience in a BSN program and recent hospital clinical practice are preferred qualifications that would strengthen your candidacy.
This position sits within UTHSC's larger mission as Tennessee's flagship academic health institution, which educates over 3,200 health science students across the state and operates major clinical sites in Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Nashville. The role offers the stability of full-time, in-office work at a well-established public university with comprehensive benefits.
