About this role
University of Tennessee at Martin's OB/GYN clinic in Memphis is seeking a Medical Technical Assistant to support physicians and nurse practitioners across clinical and administrative tasks. You'll prepare exam rooms, obtain patient vitals and histories, enter data into the electronic medical record, administer injections, and assist with lab orders and specialist referrals. The role also includes telephone triage following established protocols, chaperoning when needed, and support with coding and billing—meaning you'll touch multiple sides of clinic operations.
The position requires a CMA, CCMA, or equivalent certification and at least six months of outpatient medical experience. You'll need current CPR certification, solid EMR proficiency, and strong communication and time management skills. Prior OB/GYN or internal medicine experience and Spanish language ability are preferred but not required. The schedule includes occasional weekend and evening hours.
This is a full-time, in-office role suited to someone comfortable with direct patient interaction, procedural support, and the variety that comes with a busy clinical environment. If you have your certification in hand and outpatient experience, this offers a clear entry point into a university health system.
