About this role
This postdoctoral position at the University of Tennessee at Martin combines in vitro cell work with in vivo rodent research, requiring hands-on expertise across multiple experimental platforms. You would manage primary neuronal and astrocyte cultures, perform viral transductions and flow cytometry, conduct seahorse metabolic assays, and handle molecular extractions. The role also involves substantial rodent work—colony management, breeding coordination, tissue and blood collection, behavioral testing, and potentially stereotaxic viral injections into brain tissue. You would supervise trainees in these assays, analyze data with statistical rigor, and prepare results for publication and presentation.
The ideal candidate holds a doctoral degree and brings meticulous lab technique, strong attention to detail, and solid grounding in statistics and statistical software. You need reliable record-keeping habits, basic computer proficiency, and the ability to communicate findings clearly both internally and to external audiences. Success here depends on working effectively within a team structure, following protocols precisely, and managing your own timeline while accommodating the schedules of collaborators and institutional core facilities.
This is a full-time, in-office role in Memphis suited to someone seeking postdoctoral training in neuroscience research with exposure to both cellular and whole-animal models.
