About this role
The Department of Dermatology at UTHSC is expanding its pediatric services and seeking a third pediatric dermatologist to join an established, growing faculty. You would hold a joint appointment with the Department of Pediatrics and provide clinical care across two major institutions: Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, where you'd handle both outpatient and inpatient consultations, and St. Jude Children's Cancer Research Hospital, where you'd have inpatient consultation privileges. The patient population is large, diverse, and often medically complex, drawn from Memphis and the surrounding region.
This role combines clinical practice with meaningful teaching responsibilities. The department maintains a well-established residency program dating to 1967, and all faculty contribute to resident and medical student education. If research interests you, there are opportunities to pursue work in areas like pediatric obesity and asthma at Le Bonheur, or to collaborate at St. Jude, with start-up funding potentially available for the right candidate.
Candidates must hold an MD or DO, be board-certified or board-eligible in dermatology, and have completed fellowship training in pediatric dermatology. Those with expertise in complex pediatric dermatologic conditions, infectious diseases, or skin manifestations in immunosuppressed children will be particularly competitive. You'll need eligibility for full, unrestricted medical licensure in Tennessee.
