About this role
University of Tennessee at Martin's College of Medicine in Chattanooga is seeking an Internal Medicine physician to lead the Geriatrics/Palliative Care clerkship while maintaining an active clinical practice. The role divides your time primarily between patient care (80%) and directing a medical student clerkship (10%), with smaller allocations for research and other educational activities. As Clerkship Director, you would oversee curriculum design and alignment with institutional competencies, coordinate clinical experiences across sites, recruit and mentor faculty preceptors, and manage student assessment and feedback processes. You'll also drive ongoing quality improvement efforts in collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education and participate in relevant faculty committees.
The position requires an MD or DO with board certification (or eligibility) in an appropriate specialty and an active Tennessee medical license. This is a full-time, in-office role based in Chattanooga, a growing metro area of roughly 430,000 with outdoor recreation, a developing innovation sector, and downtown riverfront amenities. The combination of clinical practice and educational leadership makes this suited to someone with both geriatrics or palliative care expertise and interest in medical education administration.
