About this role
UL Solutions is seeking someone to manage the full lifecycle of product deviations and quality failures across consumer packaged goods, OTC drugs, cosmetics, and dietary supplements. In this hybrid role based in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, you'll investigate non-conformances and failing test results by reviewing laboratory data, manufacturing records, and supplier documentation to determine root cause and recommend product disposition—whether that's release, rework, market withdrawal, or destruction. The work demands strong technical judgment: you'll assess risks to consumer safety, regulatory compliance, and brand reputation, then escalate high-risk findings to senior leadership and retail partners.
Success in this position requires a scientific background (degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field) plus at least two years of hands-on experience in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or deviation management within industries like food, cosmetics, OTC drugs, or dietary supplements. You'll need solid knowledge of root cause analysis and CAPA systems, the ability to read and interpret complex technical reports, and familiarity with OTC drug monographs, cosmetic regulations, and major retailer quality programs. The role involves juggling multiple investigations simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines and communicating findings clearly to cross-functional teams.
The position offers a salary of $64,100 to $68,000 with a 5% annual bonus target, plus standard benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage; 15 vacation days, 12 holiday and personal days, and 72 hours of sick time annually; and a 401(k) plan.
