About this role
Supporting workers through injury claims at Suncorp means being the steady presence during one of their most difficult periods. You'll handle high-volume interactions across phone and digital channels, guiding customers through early-stage claims and recovery while building trust with them and key stakeholders. The role demands empathy in sensitive conversations, sound judgment in decision-making, and the ability to identify what's blocking someone's path back to wellness—then work collaboratively to remove those barriers.
Customer service or contact centre experience is valuable, but not essential; Suncorp will train you in Workers Compensation specifics. What matters more is genuine care for helping others, strong communication across different people and situations, and the resilience to manage challenging conversations without losing your composure in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving ability and a collaborative mindset round out what they're looking for.
This is a hybrid volunteer role based in Newcastle. Beyond the work itself, you'll access Suncorp's Shine platform for wellbeing support and career development, flexible leave including 20 weeks paid parental leave, paid study support, free wellbeing coaching, and a range of retail discounts and financial benefits. The company emphasizes diversity and inclusion, with employee resource groups and accessible recruitment support available.
