About this role
PwC's Utility Field Service Technician role supports the Public Works Commission's metering operations in Fayetteville, responding to customer service requests and managing the full lifecycle of water and electric meters in the field. You'll inspect, install, and troubleshoot meters; investigate irregularities like tampering or high usage; and document all work through digital systems including handheld devices, Mobile Data Terminals, and GIS resources. The position requires comfort with technology, attention to detail in record-keeping, and the ability to communicate service information clearly to customers.
This is fundamentally a hands-on field role that demands physical capability—regular walking, standing, bending, and climbing in varying weather—and a valid North Carolina Driver's License. You'll maintain your assigned vehicle and equipment, respond to emergency utility conditions, and work extended hours with on-call availability. A high school diploma is the baseline education requirement; the role suits someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable troubleshooting problems independently in customer environments.
The position pays $18.75 to $24.71 hourly and is full-time, in-office based in Fayetteville. It's a good fit if you're looking for stable utility sector work with clear technical responsibilities and direct customer interaction.
