About this role
Onsemi is seeking a Principal Reliability Engineer to lead reliability strategy and execution across new product development initiatives in San Jose. You would work embedded within cross-functional teams spanning Design, Marketing, Technology, and Process Engineering, owning the design-for-reliability approach from concept through qualification. This means coordinating design-of-experiments, material and process validation, test program development, and qualification readiness assessments while serving as the technical lead for failure analysis and root cause investigation when issues arise during stress testing.
The role demands deep expertise in semiconductor IC reliability—at least eight years of hands-on experience with CMOS device physics, package assembly processes, and industry qualification standards like AEC Q100 and JEDEC. You should be comfortable with reliability acceleration models, statistical analysis, and the full product qualification flow. Beyond technical depth, the position requires strong communication and analytical skills to translate reliability risks into actionable engineering inputs for cross-functional teams and to produce clear qualification reports and risk assessments.
This is a full-time, in-office position with a salary range of $131,100 to $222,755 depending on experience and location, plus a competitive benefits package. The role suits an engineer ready to move into a principal-level position with proven track record in semiconductor reliability and the ability to drive quality and robustness into products at the development stage.
