About this role
At Onsemi's San Jose office, you'd lead the architectural design of next-generation power electronics systems, working across the full product lifecycle from concept to production. The role demands deep expertise in power conversion topologies (AC-DC and DC-DC), wide-bandgap semiconductors (SiC and GaN), and the ability to balance competing demands—power efficiency, thermal performance, cost, safety, and manufacturability. You'll partner with OEMs and internal teams spanning product, design, software, and validation to translate market and customer needs into modular, scalable architectures that support long-term roadmaps.
This is a leadership position requiring at least 10 years in automotive or industrial power electronics, ideally with hands-on experience in high-voltage safety-critical systems and direct OEM collaboration. You'll guide systems engineering teams, drive architectural trade-offs, and ensure compliance with functional safety standards like ISO 26262. While functional safety expertise is preferred rather than required, strong electrical and thermal modeling skills, bench testing experience, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly are essential.
The role suits someone who thrives at the intersection of technical depth and cross-functional influence—someone comfortable representing technical strategy to customers and internal stakeholders alike. Experience with motor control, EMI/EMC, or space applications would be advantageous. Onsemi offers a competitive salary range of $151,455–$272,550 plus benefits, with final compensation based on location, skills, and experience.
