About this role

CBIZ is seeking a Senior Account Manager to lead relationship management and service delivery for a portfolio of mid-market construction clients in Kansas City. This is a hands-on, client-facing role—not a call center position—where you'll serve as the primary point of contact for complex construction accounts, managing everything from day-to-day service requests to major renewals. You'll need deep expertise in construction-specific coverages like builder's risk, general liability, contractor's equipment, and surety bonds, and you'll spend significant time understanding each client's operational challenges, contractual obligations, and evolving risk profiles.

The role requires you to bridge the gap between clients and CBIZ's internal teams—underwriting, claims, risk management—to design and implement tailored insurance solutions. You'll prepare renewal packages, gather exposure data, oversee new client onboarding, advise on regulatory and industry trends, and identify cross-sell opportunities in areas like pollution and professional liability. You'll also mentor less experienced staff and maintain strong relationships with construction-focused carriers and vendors.

To qualify, you'll need more than five years of insurance industry customer service experience, with a minimum of three years handling complex commercial accounts ideally in construction. An active Property & Casualty license is highly preferred. This is a contract position requiring in-office work in Kansas City and occasional travel to meet client needs.
