About this role

BHE Renewables seeks an experienced international tax professional to manage compliance and planning across Berkshire Hathaway Energy's global operations from its Des Moines headquarters. This is a multi-level role—either Manager or Director depending on your background—that requires deep expertise in U.S. and foreign tax law to handle consolidated returns, foreign tax credits, transfer pricing, FATCA compliance, and the full spectrum of international information reporting. You'll support tax provision calculations, quarterly estimated payments, Canadian returns, and OECD BEPS compliance while monitoring evolving legislation and its business impact.

The position demands at least 10 years in tax (5+ in international) for the Manager track, or 12 years (5+ international) for the Director level, ideally with a CPA, graduate accounting degree, or tax law background. Beyond technical mastery of complex cross-border transactions and audit support, you'll need strong leadership skills to mentor staff and communicate intricate tax concepts clearly to stakeholders. Merger and acquisition experience, familiarity with tax systems and research tools, and involvement in professional tax associations round out the profile.

This role suits someone ready to take on substantial responsibility within a major energy company's international tax function—one where your decisions directly affect compliance across multiple jurisdictions and your expertise shapes tax strategy for a portfolio that includes significant renewable generation assets.
