BHE GT&S is an interstate natural gas transmission and storage company that gives large customers more options in moving gas safely, reliably and efficiently. Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, with operations in 10 states, BHE GT&S employees take pride in our work and are committed to innovative and sustainable natural gas energy solutions. Through our liquefied natural gas facilities, multi-state pipeline systems, and storage operations we support a number of large customers, including major utilities, power plants, marine transportation and heavy-duty trucking, along with manufacturing. Our employees are integral to our success and work hard to exceed customer expectations. We provide fulfilling employment opportunities, are committed to attracting and retaining the best employees, and focus on providing a safe and inclusive work environment.

About this role

BHE Renewables is seeking civil engineers at multiple experience levels to support the design, construction, and maintenance of pipeline, compression, and structural systems across its natural gas transmission network. The role encompasses the full project lifecycle—from planning and procurement through field oversight—with responsibilities that scale by seniority. You'll conduct civil and structural evaluations, manage remediation projects like landslide mitigation and pipe exposures, prepare specifications and cost estimates, and for senior roles, provide PE sign-off on applicable projects and mentor junior engineers.

The position requires a four-year ABET-accredited engineering degree; entry-level candidates (Engineer I) need minimal experience or internship background, while mid-level roles (Engineer II) typically require one to three years in the field, and senior positions demand five years of industry experience with a PE license preferred. Success in this role depends on strong technical foundations—the ability to interpret drawings and schematics, prepare detailed reports, and work with engineering software—combined with solid communication and problem-solving skills. Senior engineers should expect to lead projects, guide less experienced staff, and think analytically about complex structural and geotechnical challenges.

This is an in-office position based in Bridgeport, West Virginia, suited for engineers interested in infrastructure and energy systems who want hands-on involvement in real projects rather than purely design-focused work.
