About this role

BHE Renewables is seeking a Contract Manager to serve as both an operational leader and subject matter expert within its supply chain function. The role balances hands-on contract administration with strategic development work: you'll oversee the peer review process for supply chain contracts, design and deliver training programs for procurement and contract specialists, and work closely with legal to refine contract language and processes. Roughly half your time involves mentoring staff, enhancing departmental capabilities, and collaborating with business units on contract strategy and expiring agreements.

The position requires six years of procurement experience with at least two years in a contract management or leadership capacity. A bachelor's degree in business administration, law, or a related field is expected, though equivalent progressive experience can substitute. You'll need strong negotiation and influencing skills, solid grounding in contract legal terminology, and the ability to think critically about risk mitigation and compliance. Experience with utility operations, technology contracts (software licensing, SaaS), and supplier performance management is preferred. This is an in-office role in Des Moines, Iowa, and requires current work authorization without need for sponsorship.
