About this role
Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to deliver early intervention services across Penn Hills schools, including the Gateway 3 classroom. This is an itinerant role, meaning you'll travel throughout the assigned region to provide individual, group, and classroom-based speech therapy to preschool students according to their Individualized Education Programs. You'll also conduct intake assessments, complete evaluations and IEP documentation, monitor student progress, and manage your own caseload schedule to ensure consistent service delivery while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
The position requires a Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology, valid Pennsylvania K-12 certification in Speech Language Impaired, and either an ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence or completion of the ASHA exam as a Clinical Fellow. You'll need strong organizational skills to juggle multiple students, meet documentation deadlines, and work independently across different school settings. The role also calls for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including families, and a commitment to staying current with best practices through ongoing professional development.
This is a full-time position on a 190-day school calendar. You'll need to be comfortable with regular travel, able to lift and carry materials, and prepared to handle the physical demands of working with young children in various classroom environments. Current background clearances (Act 114, Act 34, Act 151, and NSOR) must be obtained before hire, and salary and benefits follow the AIUEA Agreement.
