BHE Renewables is seeking a senior engineer to own the control systems and operational technology infrastructure supporting generation, transmission, and distribution across the fleet. You'll balance hands-on technical work—troubleshooting SCADA systems, managing control logic and instrumentation, overseeing security patches and virtual infrastructure—with strategic responsibilities like developing operational technology policy, guiding vendor relationships, and providing technical direction to the team. The role spans the full lifecycle of capital and maintenance projects, from business case development through commissioning, plus on-call support roughly one to two times monthly.
This position requires a PE license and a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field plus five years of industry experience as a practicing engineer (or eight years without the license, or nine years if you lack the degree). You'll need solid expertise in SCADA protocols, control system design, computer networking, VMware virtualization, and field instrumentation—ideally with direct experience in generation, transmission, or distribution environments. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, especially translating technical issues for non-technical audiences.
The role is based in Las Vegas and requires in-office work with occasional travel within Nevada (up to 25%). You may encounter outdoor conditions, extreme heat, loud noise, and chemical exposure depending on site visits. This is a full-time position that offers the chance to shape how a major regional utility manages its operational technology systems.
