About this role

BHE Renewables is seeking an engineer to own risk management and fire protection compliance for their generation, transmission, and storage operations. This role combines technical expertise in NFPA codes and fire protection systems with insurance coordination and regulatory oversight. You'll plan and oversee maintenance projects, manage all-risk and boiler inspections, lead facility audits, and serve as the primary liaison between operations and corporate insurance. The work includes evaluating bids, administering contracts, and supporting hazard analyses on capital projects.

The position demands strong technical fundamentals—you'll interpret schematics, prepare cost estimates and schedules, and stay current with evolving standards. You're expected to work independently as the sole risk management contributor for the group while also collaborating across teams. Travel is significant during peak season (January through April, up to 50% overnight) and moderate the rest of the year.

Three entry points exist depending on experience: Engineer I requires a four-year ABET-accredited engineering degree with minimal prior experience; Engineer II adds one to three years of related work; Sr Engineer requires five years of industry experience and a PE license is preferred at that level. All candidates must meet specific engineering degree criteria outlined in the posting.
