About this role
Leading art direction for an unreleased game at Riot means owning the visual identity from early concept through production—translating creative ambition into a cohesive, player-facing style that balances artistic vision with technical reality. You'll establish the visual standards and production practices that guide your team, ensuring the art strengthens gameplay, character appeal, and the overall player experience across character design, animation, VFX, and visual storytelling.
This role demands 12+ years in game development with at least 8 years leading art teams, and a shipped 3D game where you made key artistic decisions. You need deep expertise across stylized rendering, character-driven visuals, and the production pipelines required to deliver quality work at scale. Beyond craft, you'll mentor internal and external teams, direct vendors and distributed talent, and partner across design, narrative, and engineering to ensure alignment on the game's visual direction.
Success here hinges on both technical mastery and genuine player empathy. You should thrive in collaborative environments, champion healthy creative processes that support iteration and quality, and stay current with emerging tools and workflows. If you've built strong art teams, managed the constraints of live-service or multiplayer games, and care deeply about how visuals serve the player experience, this is worth your consideration.
