Description
Wound Care Physician – No Call, Zero Overhead
Are you tired of hospital politics, crushing administrative overhead, and shrinking clinical autonomy? Being a physician in Alabama right now comes with unique pressures. Between navigating vague legal landscapes, battling insurance companies, and working with short-staffed teams, it’s easy to feel disconnected from why you entered medicine in the first place.
At Skilled Wound Care, we offer a different path. We are a leading national wound care physician group seeking motivated MDs and DOs who want to step off the hospital treadmill, leave the legal and administrative burnout behind, and get back to practicing pure medicine.
As a mobile wound care physician and independent contractor, you will provide critical, hands-on care to a vulnerable geriatric population in nursing facilities. You make the clinical decisions. You manage your outcomes. We handle the rest.
Why Transition to Skilled Wound Care?
- True Autonomy as an Independent Contractor: As a 1099 provider, you are truly your own boss. Enjoy the ultimate freedom, flexibility, and tax advantages of independent practice without the crippling overhead of running a traditional brick-and-mortar clinic.
- Practice Pure Medicine, Free from Politics: Leave the legal ambiguity and hospital micromanagement behind. Your only focus is healing the patient in front of you, utilizing the latest advancements in wound healing.
- Zero Overhead & Uncapped Earning Potential: Escape the financial strain of private practice. We handle the facility contracts and billing. Full-time physicians earn an average starting pay of $220,000 - $250,000 annually, with the potential to earn up to $300,000+ through additional services, performance-based bonuses, and no earning cap.
- Reclaim Your Time (No Call, No Weekends): Stop sacrificing your personal life. There are no nights, no on-call emergencies, and no weekend rounds.
- Say Goodbye to Data-Entry Burnout: We utilize a custom software system specifically designed to drastically reduce physician administrative and documentation time, so you can spend your time treating patients, not screens.
Compensation & Comprehensive Support
We invest heavily in our physicians so you feel confident and supported from day one:
- Pay Structure: Per-patient visit pay, per-procedure pay.

About this role
Skilled Wound Care is recruiting physicians to deliver wound care in nursing facilities across a mobile practice model, with no on-call duties, no weekends, and genuine clinical autonomy as a 1099 independent contractor. The role focuses on hands-on patient care for geriatric populations in skilled nursing settings, where you manage clinical decisions and outcomes while the company handles facility contracts, billing, and administrative overhead. This appeals to physicians seeking to step away from hospital bureaucracy and the administrative burden of traditional practice.
Compensation ranges from $220,000 to $250,000 annually, with potential to exceed $300,000 through per-visit and per-procedure fees, quarterly bonuses up to 30%, and no earning cap. The company provides comprehensive wound care training, biannual CME conferences, and uses custom software designed to minimize documentation time. You'll need an active, unrestricted Texas medical license and DEA license; prior residency completion and board certification are not required.
This position suits physicians with an MD or DO who want predictable hours, financial transparency, and the ability to practice medicine without navigating hospital politics or legal ambiguity. The trade-off is independent contractor status rather than traditional employment, which carries both tax advantages and the responsibility of self-employment.
