Description
BUILT DIFFERENT
We believe there's a better way to build. One that moves faster, thinks bigger, and gives people the ownership to challenge what's been done before. We're not here to follow the standard. We're here to set a new one. We don't believe the best work happens inside rigid boxes. People are given real ownership, real responsibility, and the space to operate beyond a title. Scope grows with impact. Responsibility grows with trust. And the people who step up help shape what comes next. We're building an organization around ownership, not hierarchy, where your influence is defined by what you take on, not what's written on your email signature.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The infrastructure is ambitious. The people behind it should be too.
We need a Civil & Structural Engineer who thinks from first principles, questions convention, and wants the weight of owning the outcome. Someone who can design it, stand behind it, solve for it in the field, and build the runway as they go.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
+ Design it: Own civil and structural design end-to-end: foundations, structural steel and concrete framing, site grading and drainage, and equipment anchorage.
+ Stamp it: Take professional responsibility for calculations, drawings, and specifications as Engineer of Record, not a reviewer of someone else's work, the author of it.
+ Build it: Stay close to construction, resolve field conflicts in real time, and sign off only when it's actually right.
+ Challenge it: Push on cost, constructability, and third-party engineering deliverables without cutting the corners that matter.
WHAT YOU BRING
+ Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
+ 7+ years designing civil and structural systems for data centers, industrial, or other mission-critical facilities.
+ Working knowledge of ASCE 7, ACI 318, the AISC Steel Construction Manual, and IBC, backed by hands-on experience with foundations, tilt-up concrete, and pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB).
+ Fluency with ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, or similar structural analysis software, and AutoCAD Civil 3D or Revit for design documentation.
+ Experience working directly with geotechnical engineers, contractors, and construction teams through commissioning.
BUILT FOR THIS
If you are mission-driven, ownership-minded, drawn to hard problems, willing to challenge convention, and ready to build the playbook.
If you aren’t waiting for every answer, looking for layers of approval, leading from a distance, attached to “the way it’s always been done,” or looking for just another role.
BONUS POINTS
+ 10+ years and multi-site U.S. data center delivery experience.
+ Experience with heavy equipment anchorage (generators, transformers, chillers) and raised platform or foundation systems.
+ Background at a company that self-performs its own builds rather than relying on a GC.
+ Experience with site grading, drainage, and erosion and sediment control design for large campus sites.
"People are our greatest differentiator: an environment where high performers thrive, where collaboration drives impact, and where careers are shaped by opportunity, not hierarchy."

About this role
Hut 8 is looking for a Civil & Structural Engineer in Miami who will own projects from conception through construction—not hand them off at the design phase. You'll be the Engineer of Record on ambitious infrastructure work, responsible for foundations, structural steel and concrete framing, site systems, and equipment anchorage. This means designing it, stamping it, staying embedded in construction to solve real-time field conflicts, and pushing back on cost and constructability without compromising what matters.
The role demands a PE license and at least seven years designing civil and structural systems for data centers, industrial, or mission-critical facilities. You'll need solid command of ASCE 7, ACI 318, the AISC Steel Construction Manual, and IBC, plus hands-on experience with foundations, tilt-up concrete, and pre-engineered metal buildings. Fluency with structural analysis software like ETABS or SAP2000 and design tools like Civil 3D or Revit is essential. You should be comfortable working directly with geotechnical engineers, contractors, and construction teams through commissioning.
This is an in-office role in Miami for someone who thinks from first principles, questions convention, and thrives on real ownership and responsibility. If you're drawn to hard problems, willing to challenge the status quo, and ready to build the playbook rather than follow it, this could be a fit. Experience with multi-site U.S. data center delivery, heavy equipment anchorage, or companies that self-perform their own builds would be valuable.
