About this role

Langan's Austin office is looking for an intern or co-op student to contribute to the design and permitting of highway, freeway, and local road projects. You'd work on real transportation infrastructure across the country, handling tasks like geometric design using national and local codes, stormwater management planning, traffic signalization drawings, and construction cost estimating. The role involves hands-on use of industry-standard software—primarily AutoCAD Civil 3D, Guidesign, and AutoTURN—alongside field work such as ADA inspections and maintenance of traffic planning.

This position suits civil or traffic engineering students (or those in transportation planning) who are in their junior or senior year or pursuing a master's degree, ideally with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Prior experience with Guidesign and AutoTURN is highly valued; familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other civil design software is a bonus. You'll need strong written and verbal communication, careful attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Travel may be required depending on project assignments.

Langan is a large, established firm with 50+ offices nationwide, ranked among the top ten best firms to work for. The internship offers exposure to a cross-disciplinary environment and structured training, though note that the company does not provide housing or relocation assistance for interns. Work is in-office in Austin for summer 2027.
