About this role
Working in Langan's Austin office, you'd support a range of transportation projects—from traffic impact studies and parking analyses to signal design and highway permits. The work spans both field observation and office-based technical tasks: conducting traffic counts, preparing reports and calculations, creating design plans and graphics, and collaborating with the civil engineering team as needed. This is a hands-on internship where you'd see real projects through from data collection to deliverables.
The ideal candidate is a junior, senior, or graduate student in civil engineering, traffic engineering, or transportation planning with a 3.0+ GPA. Experience with traffic modeling software (HCS, SYNCHRO), design tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation), and knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices is valued. Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively matter as much as technical skills. Be prepared for occasional travel tied to project needs.
Langan is a well-established firm with 50+ offices nationwide, ranked among the top firms to work for. The internship offers exposure to diverse project types and a collaborative environment with mentoring and training support, though note that housing and relocation assistance are not provided for this position.
