About this role
Stacy Witbeck's Modern Railway Systems subsidiary is building out its team for the California High-Speed Rail Track and Systems project, currently in pre-construction phase. As Project Engineer, you'd support the full range of early-stage and construction delivery work: estimating and process development during startup, schedule coordination and progress tracking, subcontractor management, and cost control including quantity takeoffs and monthly projections. The role offers genuine autonomy and mentorship, with explicit potential to grow into a leadership position as the project scales.
You'll need three to seven years in field or project engineering roles, solid command of Bluebeam and Microsoft Office, and a valid driver's license for onsite work in Sacramento and project travel. Strong organizational and communication skills matter—this is a fast-paced environment where you're expected to be self-directed and contribute quickly. A degree in construction management or related engineering discipline is required, though equivalent field experience counts. Prior exposure to rail, transit, or electrical work, or experience on complex public infrastructure projects, would be advantageous, as would familiarity with Procore, Primavera P6, or HeavyBid, but these aren't deal-breakers.
The salary range is $105,000 to $140,000, and the position requires daily in-office presence in Sacramento.
